I’m not entirely sure why Fishing is so popular at the moment, other than it can help the war efforts, but here ya go…
- from: WoW Forums
So post your fishing schools…where you found them, I’ll update this as they come in.
Ok here are the fish “nodes” or schools. They appear as swirls in the ocean, lakes and rivers of WoW. Cast your bobber inside (or at least on the edge) of the swirl to get a better chance at catching the fish type. My preliminary reports show it’s around a 75% catch rate with various other items possible to catch in the swirls.
Other things that I have caught are the bloated mightfish (has a gem inside), stranglekelp, message in a bottle (sometimes has a green pattern/white pattern) and a few other items of random.
Sorted the list by alphabet and also by rarity. Fish, random then chests. **Started adding some coordinates.

The Barrens (46,40)
Sagefish
Astranaar
Hillsbrad Foothills (66,37)
Loch Modan (42,44)

This Patch of Elemental Water is found along the far far east coast of Azshara. Appears to be a fairly rare spawn. They give elemental water, globes of water and essences of water, that we’ve found.

Azshara
These trunks are found at the floating debris piles you’ll see spawn randomly with the swirls. Now these are not considered rare but their loots will range on the mob level of the zone. Regular boxes, Iron and Mithril are in order of zone level. I have caught a blue pattern in one of the Mithril chests. Usually they give potions, leather, cloth and a chance at a green. There is also a bloated might fish that is much like fishing used to be, as the fish usually houses a random gem.

Are you looking to get your cooking and fishing skills up? Gaming Steve posted his latest tilted “Clapperoth’s Guide to Reaching Level 300 Cooking and Fishing in a Single Day”! It is horde based but overall it is a very good guide.
The other nice benefit of this guide is that you could use the fish for the war effort. Keep an eye out for the Rainbow Fin, Yellow Spotted tail, and the Salmon (depending on which side you play). I would also highly suggest looking for a mod or two if you are going to pursue this endeavor.
I personally never got my fishing that high. Maybe around 50… I probably would have pursued it further but since I don’t have to wait for boats because I can portal around and Babba tried playing Funktea and attacked a mob with my fishing pole and broke it so it was all over after that.

With all of the quests available in WoW, I am sure most of us can say that we may have missed a few during our adventures. I know I can definately say that I have missed a few. Thanks to another WoW player, Tobold, an article has been put together with some of the hidden quests in WoW, that not everyone may know about.
Recently I’ve been talking about areas not covered by quests, but there is also another case: Quests that do exist, but few people do them, because the quest is hidden in some way. Here are some that I found:
As Alliance, there is a dwarf quest giver hidden in a niche in the western bridge column [edit: of the bridge between Wetlands and Arathi], who has an urgent delivery of moonshine for Southshore. As that part of the bridge is destroyed, and the column is standing unconnected, you need to jump to reach him. I managed it easily with my hunter, jumping from the Arathi side. But I was using Aspect of Cheetah for higher speed, and I’ve heard that without some sort of speed enhancement, like a swiftness potion, the jump is difficult or impossible. Of course there are a couple of ways to levitate or teleport there, if you have the right class for those spells, or if you are an engineer with parachute cloak.
For Horde, there are several quest givers and other NPC hidden in the right eye of the large stone skull that represents the entrance to the Wailing Caverns in the Barrens. You need to go a bit around the mountain to climb up on the top of the skull, the jump down to the nose, and into the eye socket, which turns out to be a cave full of Horde NPC. Especially interesting for leatherworkers, as the recipes and quests for the deviate scale leather armor is found there.

Your Place In The World
The first quest you get is from Kaltunk who is standing right in front you next to the fire. He wants you to talk to Gornek who is at the mouth of the cave to your left. You will also see a yellow dot on your mini-map showing you his location. Click on him to finish the quest.
Cutting Teeth
This next quest you get from Grull Hawkwind has you getting 10 mountain cougar pelts. Also he will have a quest to deliver a note to your class trainer after you complete the first quest so do that now before you go on with this quest.
Gornek seems to not think very highly of you and wants you to kill 10 mottled boars. The boars are all around the area and are levels 1 and 2. Kill the ten you need then return to Gornek for a reward of either [item]Soft Wool Boots[/item] (cloth, feet, 7 armor) or [item]Battleworn Leather Gloves[/item] (leather, hands, 21 armor).
Sting Of The Scorpid
After finishing The Hunt Continues this quest will popup automatically. Grull Hawkwind wants you to kill battleboars and gather 8 battleboar snouts and flanks.
Gornek thinks you did ok with the boars so now he sends you after 10 Scorpid Worker tails to make the antidote for their poison and to show your prowess in battle. As you walk out of the cave head to the fire then go to your left. Go past the impossible high ground then turn left again when you can and you will end up in an area full of Scorpid Workers that are level 3. The Scorpid Worker tails you need are a random drop from these.
They can hit you with weak poison that does 1 nature damage every 3 seconds and lasts for 12 seconds for a total of 4 nature damage, no big deal. Gather the 10 Scorpid Tails and head back to Gornek for a reward of either [item]Soft Wool Belt[/item] (cloth, waist, 6 armor) or [item]Battle Worn Cape[/item] (Back, 5 armor).
