Mats:
[item]Flask of Supreme Power[/item] –
Mats: 30 x dreamfoil 10 x mountain silversage 1 x black lotus. This is a very costly but fun as hell flask. Unlike potions it doesn’t disappear if you die. “Increases damage done by magical spells and effects by up to 150 for 2 hrs. You can only have the effect of one flask at a time.”

6 mana every 5 seconds for 10 min is a pretty nice buff to have. That’s 72 mana a minute and 720 over the course of the entire buff.

Strategies We Tried:
1. Have mages stop fighting when the “20 sec until Sons of Flame” announcement shows. It gives time to regen a bit of mana and bandage if needed.
2. Set up a frost nova chain with /RS announcements and /w to the next person in line. One mage will watch who dies and call out as needed since the announcements may no longer be accurately calling the next person in line.
3. Stand at the widest part of the circle and as far back as you can (duh!), but make sure you spread out. Rags is similar to Ony in the fact if you bunch up it pisses him off and he throws a fire bomb at you and you go flying/die.
4. We put a moonkin druid in with several high DPSers so they received the additional damage buff.
5. If you get hit, run to the back of the cave behind the wall to bandage.
6. I also kept my mana shield up because I have a decent regen rate and mana pool. I’d rather take the hit to my mana than my health.

There are a few things to note from the below video:
Rogue Point of View Video
1. Ignore the ‘control DPS – that is his macro, we must go all out dps’
2. Note how when the 5 second warning appears, the melee scrambles to the edge of the ring until the gong.
3. At one point the MT tells the raid to stop attacking, I’m assuming this was when he was knocked back. (we will resist this 75% of the time).
4. Note how much dps they had, and how fast rags health went down before the sons. For some reason, it seems like they had a lot of time for hte sons, but I guess thats normal.
5. Sons- note how the melee classes scrambled to grab them, and also made a shield around caster camp. We really have to work on this. Also notice how the sons were not Aoe’d, they were isolated and killed. Frost nova + banish ftw. Warriors, pallies, and even rogues, you really gotta be on this one.
6. Note in phase 2 after sons, the rogues were soul stoned because the casters would surely be dead or oom by then. [Thanks Babbaganoosh for the write-up]

There are two seasonal fish that we know of Summer Bass and Winter Squid and when cooked both have bonuses to their health benefits.

Summer Bass only caught in the summer months can be cooked into Hot Smoked Bass and gives a +10 boost to spirit for 10 minutes.

Winter Squid can be cooked into Grilled Squid gives +10 to Agility for 10 minutes so particularly handy for Rogues.

The time of day can also affect what you fish, for example, in an area you would fish Nightfin Snapper at night time, you will catch Sunscale Salmon in its place during the day.

Even in game fish are ruled by the time table (seasonal fishing only)
6am-12pm = average drop rate
12pm-6pm = BEST TIME!!!
6pm-12am = average drop rate
12am-6am = below average drop rate

When will the good times end?
The seasonal cutoff for Squid/Bass is the Spring and Autumn equinox. At least it was last year.

We tried to continue our winning streak where we left off on Wednesday but a lot of the people that went the first time didn’t show, so we had to toss together a group led by Ryjaek of some of the original people from Wed and then others that were on.

Babba was loot master again, which seems to work rather well for us. He just does a /20 and happily drops stuff in people’s bags. If we get a coin we can’t use we can just trade it amongst ourselves later on. For the bijous and the primal hakkari items we had the appropriate groups roll. I think it saves time and keeps our mind on playing rather than watching the rolls.

We headed for the panther boss (High Priestess Arlokk) and spent several hours tryin to kick some butt. Unfortunately we could not seem to kill her. We tried several strategies but ultimately we just couldn’t do it.

I think a couple more tries and we’ll take her down without a problem. This was the strategy that we used:

Arlokk’s Abilities

Arlokk has several abilities that she uses in the fight. They are as follows:

Summon: While Arlokk is alive, mobs of Panthers will be summoned around the area you are fighting her in. These mobs will consist of high level elite and non-elite panthers.

Stealth: At 3 points during the battle Arlokk will stealth and vanish from the fight. This leaves the party time to deal with the Panthers.

Hunters Mark: When this mark is placed on a player all panthers will attack that person until it fades. It lasts approx. 2 minutes. While a pain to the marked player who will need healing, it actually makes it very easy for other players to find the panthers and groups them up nicely for AOE effects.

Strategy

Once the gong in the Temple which Arlokk resides in is hit, a rush of panthers will attack the raid as well as Arlokk. The ranged elements of the raid should be by the Gong while the Main Tank should be tanking in the middle of the room. For the first part of the fight, all DPS should be centered on Arlokk.

The healers need to watch out for Arlokk’s “mark” and be sure to spam heal anyone unfortunate enough to recieve the debuff. DPS should be centered on Arlokk until she stealths, and not attacking the panthers because this battle relies heavily on downing Arlokk quickly.

After the first stealth, the party should center on killing the panthers as quickly as possible. When Arlokk returns, the panthers will spawn at an even quicker rate and need to be kept under control (AoE’s, flash bombs, fear, etc, etc). All I can say here is that Frost Nova is your friend and should allow you some degree of crowd control with these mobs. Arlokk should stealth one more time before the final engagement with her.

One very simple way to deal with the adds in this encounteris to have 2 people assigned to tank them at either place where the panthers come out of. A warrior is best, but a paladin with consecration can do the job just fine too. Just have them there the whole encounter and heal them, they don’t take too much damage and you can forget about the panther adds.

On Arlokk’s third repop; the raid needs to down her as fast as possible, simply because of the speed at which the panthers will begin to spawn. At this point it is a race for DPS to down Arlokk, before getting overrun with all the adds that will be popping throughout the last part of the fight.

Some people have noted the use of “Green Whelp Armor” for this fight as it will put attacking mobs to sleep for 30 seconds. It may be a considerable investment for regular leather wearers of the raid to pick this item up. We have also heard of many groups that either get druids to tank in bear form with this armor, or warriors that use it for this fight. Either way it makes the battle, much easier.

Here is another strategy:

6th Boss of the encounter – Panther Boss

  • Hit the gong to summon her.
  • She Marks someone and Vanishes, tons of Panther adds appear and attack the marked person.
Now this is a difficult boss these panther adds if killed instantly respawn and most likely they are now elites.
  • Everyone know what a target Dummy is? In this fight, at least initially, your going to use a living target dummy. Send in whatever tanks you have and bang the gong. One of the tanks is going to get marked. Your not going to Keep him alive. Just keep him alive long enough that the panthers do not overwhelm all the casters before they can do there damage.
  • Everyone else attack the boss and no messing about. You want max damage as fast as you can get it.
  • Do not I repeat Do not kill the panthers while the Boss is Visible.
  • She will transform into a panther-lady-freak and then quickly stealth. When she goes into stealth is time to start dropping the panthers. And drop as many here as is possible.
  • The key to this fight is to do as much damage as you can in as short a time as possible.
If you have not killed her by the time she has stealthed 3 times your not going to kill her.
In this case bail and get more dps.
  • This is a Rez and loot Boss. By this I mean count on dying.

Would be miner? Or just thinking of changing professions? Read this before you go any further! GamerGod’s Jukaar has help for those of you wanting to be miners in World of Warcraft.

Things you should know before choosing to become a Miner:

If your primary profession is either Blacksmithing or Engineering, Mining is practically a prerequisite. Both professions require materials that can only be acquired through Mining. You could choose to not take up Mining as your second profession, but consequently you’ll have to spend an inpractical amount of money on the materials you need to raise your Blacksmithing and Engineering.

Mining is a great way to make money compared to some other professions. Unless you intend to take up Leatherworking, Mining is a good profession to consider. The only way to make large amounts of money through mining is by selling Arcane Crystals and Blood of the Mountain in the Auction House. Both items are extremely rare, however, and you shouldn’t become a miner solely to farm them.

I must be behind the times or something. I found a text file of WoW easter eggs and started reading some of them off to Babba and he was like “o yea I know”.

For the rest of you as lost as I am (and I pity us both at times) here are a couple that I pulled out:

    • Name: Free Chicken
      Location: Chicken
      Coordinates: N/A
Easter Egg: If you go find a chicken, target it and use the /chicken emote at it. Eventually it’ll say “The chicken looks up at you curiously, maybe you should inspect it?”, if you right click on it it should give you a special quest for a free pet chicken. You’ll have to find an NPC that sells chicken feed. There is one particuarly in Westfall, the farm just south of Sentinel Hill, there’s an NPC who sells the chicken feed. After, go back to the chicken and use the /cheer emote on it, give it the feed and it’ll lay an egg. Click on the egg and it’ll turn into a chicken!
Note: I tested this and it takes a bit of patience to work right.

Several tips I found while searching for interesting news:

    - …if you send a GM ticket saying that you accidently deleted your character, they will bring him back. The problem is he won’t have any equipment left, and I think his gold will be gone aswell. You will need to find help running lowbie instances to get some equipment back.

    - According to another forum patron there is a “restore service”. I’m not sure if they are referring to the same GM ticket scenario or not.
