Aeus from the European forums warns us, as of patch 1.12.1, Abandoning quests will destroy quest item(s):

There was new functionality for quest abandoning added in 1.12.1 that will destroy any items related to the quest as soon as it is abandoned. The note for this didn’t make it in time for the patch, and we’re currently in the process of approving the final revision for the web notes.

This was mainly done to curb some of the experience hording for this expansion, and any future expansions to come. We want to ensure people are leveling at an appropriate pace and not using quests which were not initially designed with an expansion in mind to move past 61-70 levels as quickly as possible. This is one of a few steps to attempt to limit the benefit players will receive from planning level progression through pre-expansion quests and turn-ins.

Although not the main purpose of the implementation, this will also help with cases of items remaining from quests taking up inventory space, which we’ve probably all experienced to some annoying degree. It’s not certain at this time if removing collected items that are dependant upon a time-limited item is intended. Fortunately there are not too many quests that would be affected by that.

WoW Quest Websites

I am some a spoilsport on my alt character that I look up all coordinates for people to turn quests into. I have running aimlessly around. I have a job to do - get my priest to level 60 so I can get some decent gear!

So I normally go to Thotbot or Alakazham but I just found another site that will be handy when the other two are dogging (as they tend to do). Feel free to bookmark it along with me ;) http://wow.gamepressure.com/ They have a handy dandy map display just like the other sites, but they show it on the same page without a ton of clicking to get what you really want - the coordinates!

Here’s a little walk-thru that I wrote on finding the polymorph pig quest and completing it. Not only does it help in large groups where there are multiple mages with poly but he is super duper cute (think Mr. Wiggles folks).

1. fly to azhara
2. go to sanath lim-yo (coord 28, 49)
3. he’s got a blue ? over his head. hit complete quest and portal to top of mountain
(this is the same guy that you get yoru mage trinket from)
4. go into Bear’s Head tower (coord 29, 41) and talk to archmage xylem (he’s near the top) and he’ll give you a quest to kill a lvl 55 non-elite boss in temple of zin-malor
5. get the prasmatic shell and return to archmage xylem
6. he’ll give u a quest Fragmented Magic to polymorph spitelash (any kind will do) and AOE their clones. The shell will automatically gather their essence and store it. You need 50
7. return to archmage and get your polymorph piggy spell

= About 7 gold in profits and your polymorph spell

There are rumors that there is a poly giraffe in the Barrens and of course there is a turtle from ZG. I’ll let you know if I find the giraffe or not.

Mosh on the WoW Europe boards has provided the locations of all 50 coins that need to be gathered at the Lunar Festival. I am not doing this quest because I have my hands full with raiding, gathering mats, etc. to become involved. Not to mention any XP I get will just be burned because I seriously doubt Blizz is holding all my level 60 XP in a queue for the Burning Crusade expansion.

Hyjal AQ Event Crashing

If you’re on the North American realm Hyjal then you may or may not be aware that the gong has been rung and the masses have gathered for the main AQ event. The bad news is that the servers are struggling at the moment with huge logging-in wait times and constant crashing as Hyjal players gather in the same zone.

Hyjal players are not too happy at the moment and quite a few questions are being raised about the feasibility of such a large world event, something I am sure Blizzard have been watching very closely since the gates on Medivh were opened.

Hats off to you guys for your AQ success and I hope Blizz fixes the issues soon.

Super Egg-O-Matic Disabled

Blizzard has disabled the Super Egg-O-Matic Quest due to an exploit. Have a listen to what Eyonix had to say…

In order to prevent an exploit, we’ve disabled the Super Egg-O-Matic quest given by Curgle Cranklehop in Gadgetzan. We apologize greatly for this inconvenience, and plan to reactivate this NPC quest-giver in a future patch.

Hidden Quests in WoW

With all of the quests available in WoW, I am sure most of us can say that we may have missed a few during our adventures. I know I can definately say that I have missed a few. Thanks to another WoW player, Tobold, an article has been put together with some of the hidden quests in WoW, that not everyone may know about.

Recently I’ve been talking about areas not covered by quests, but there is also another case: Quests that do exist, but few people do them, because the quest is hidden in some way. Here are some that I found:

As Alliance, there is a dwarf quest giver hidden in a niche in the western bridge column [edit: of the bridge between Wetlands and Arathi], who has an urgent delivery of moonshine for Southshore. As that part of the bridge is destroyed, and the column is standing unconnected, you need to jump to reach him. I managed it easily with my hunter, jumping from the Arathi side. But I was using Aspect of Cheetah for higher speed, and I’ve heard that without some sort of speed enhancement, like a swiftness potion, the jump is difficult or impossible. Of course there are a couple of ways to levitate or teleport there, if you have the right class for those spells, or if you are an engineer with parachute cloak.

For Horde, there are several quest givers and other NPC hidden in the right eye of the large stone skull that represents the entrance to the Wailing Caverns in the Barrens. You need to go a bit around the mountain to climb up on the top of the skull, the jump down to the nose, and into the eye socket, which turns out to be a cave full of Horde NPC. Especially interesting for leatherworkers, as the recipes and quests for the deviate scale leather armor is found there.

Your Place In The World

The first quest you get is from Kaltunk who is standing right in front you next to the fire. He wants you to talk to Gornek who is at the mouth of the cave to your left. You will also see a yellow dot on your mini-map showing you his location. Click on him to finish the quest.

Cutting Teeth

This next quest you get from Grull Hawkwind has you getting 10 mountain cougar pelts. Also he will have a quest to deliver a note to your class trainer after you complete the first quest so do that now before you go on with this quest.

Gornek seems to not think very highly of you and wants you to kill 10 mottled boars. The boars are all around the area and are levels 1 and 2. Kill the ten you need then return to Gornek for a reward of either [item]Soft Wool Boots[/item] (cloth, feet, 7 armor) or [item]Battleworn Leather Gloves[/item] (leather, hands, 21 armor).

Sting Of The Scorpid

After finishing The Hunt Continues this quest will popup automatically. Grull Hawkwind wants you to kill battleboars and gather 8 battleboar snouts and flanks.

Gornek thinks you did ok with the boars so now he sends you after 10 Scorpid Worker tails to make the antidote for their poison and to show your prowess in battle. As you walk out of the cave head to the fire then go to your left. Go past the impossible high ground then turn left again when you can and you will end up in an area full of Scorpid Workers that are level 3. The Scorpid Worker tails you need are a random drop from these.

They can hit you with weak poison that does 1 nature damage every 3 seconds and lasts for 12 seconds for a total of 4 nature damage, no big deal. Gather the 10 Scorpid Tails and head back to Gornek for a reward of either [item]Soft Wool Belt[/item] (cloth, waist, 6 armor) or [item]Battle Worn Cape[/item] (Back, 5 armor).
