Nefarian is down!! Woot! I wasn’t there to see it but I’ll talk it up for them anyway. Congrats guys on all your hard work!
Colors were black and bronze, kill was textbook execution (pardon the pun) on the first pull of the evening.
The Loot:

[item]Netherwind Robes[/item] - Overstrand - BERSERKER
[item]Head of Nefarian[/item] - Moonwinna - Red Bull Order

This is the Firemaw strategy that we are currently using in BWL, (shamelessly pulled from the Inner Sanctum website) let’s hope we can take him down soon. We made great progress in there last nite.
Firemaw
Wing Buffet: Frontal cone knockback (Aggro reducer).
Flame Buffet: Inflicts 139 - 161 Fire damage to an enemy and increases the Fire damage it takes by 150 for 60 seconds.
Shadow Flame: Inflicts 3938 - 5062 Shadow damage to enemies in a cone in front of the caster (If the target doesn’t have Onyxia Scale cloak, will receive a DoT that ticks for 2500, it’s a certain death.
The Pull
Firemaw patrols through the entire room after Broodlord. The first thing you face after killing Broodlord is some of BWL’s few “trashmobs”, how to kill those are explained in the BWL trashmob guide. Cleat the pack in the doorway, since you are going to tank Firemaw there.
When that is done clear the pack on the right-hand side as well before pulling the boss.
Once that is done buff up get ready for Firemaw. Once the room is clear he should be an easy pull.
The fight
Once the pull is made the warrior needs to get Firemaw into position.
Firemaw should be facing the iron fence to the left of the Broodlord doorway. This position is chosen due to the knock back
We’ll be talking about this knockback for a while since it’s a potential raid wiper due to our placement. As shown in the picture the offtanks placement is strategically placed. Once Firemaw is about to do the Wing Buffet the offtank slaps him a taunt, if it gets resisted be papered for your secondary taunt, challenging shout, if successful the offtank should be knocked into Broodlords room and out of harms way. Now you can’t always rely on this since they will both get resisted from time to time and the main tank will receive an occasional knockback that will displace Fremaw and put the entire raid in danger.
The rest of the raid should be standing diagonally in alignment with the main tank through the doorway as shown in the picture, this will make it so that the healers can line-of-sight the Flame Buffet and still be able to reach the tank, now as mentioned before the main tank will receive an occasional knockback from time to time changing Firemaws postion, at that time the healers will be hit by the Flame Buffet, there is nothing to do about it other than either moving out of sight or wait until the MT has him in position again.
The ranged DPS will stand with the healers, until firemaw is around 40%; there is no way for them to legitimately LoS (Line of Sight) the Flame Buffet so they have to run out in the Flame Buffet, hit him as much as they can and LoS it again and wait for its timer to run out, and go out again.
Once Firemaw is at 40% move into the next room way back to the right, there you can hide behind a little wall and still reach Firemaw. This is done due to MT getting knockbacks putting him lower on the hate list, this ensures that if he loses agro the healers won’t get the Shadowflame, no one else except for the main tank, and occasionally the offtank and rogues, should be hit by Shadowflame. We can’t underline this enough it’s VERY important for everyone to have their Onyxia Cloak equipped, especially for the close combat classes. It isn’t a vital part in the raid but we STRONGLY recommend that everyone uses it for the first few tries.
For the close combat classes, there isn’t anything else to do other than to have a very nice fire resistance gear. With that still, the close combat classes will occasionally have to run out to get healed//get rid of the flame buffet, and jump into the fight again.
Key item in this fight is fire resistance, all the tanks should have 315 or higher fire resistance it will otherwise be impossible to keep up your tank since the dot can stack up to 50 times, and then dealing 7500 dmg each tick.

Why is it if we have a form up time of 6:30 CST and a roll out - be there or be square and staring at the first mob - of 7 CST that we are always late? I mean hell we spent 15 minutes doing jack squat while people dueled each other outside of Onyxia’s cave. We still hadn’t been put in our groups (we were in the form up raid groups of all tanks here, mages here, etc.) so I couldn’t give out the buff cycles, and hell at that point I didn’t even have assist to give them out. I had to /w them out instead.
It’s no wonder it takes us forever to get something done. I know we are a “casual” group but WTF people. If we are formed up early, are full, then lets roll out and get this done. Making 38 other people stand around while you duel is stupid and a waste of time. I just find it odd is all.
Most of us are great at getting there for the form up time, the majority of us don’t hang out and expect a summons every time but when it comes to actually getting on with it we stand around like schmucks. Anyway I don’t get it and sorry for the rant.
Drops from last night:
[item]Deathbringer[/item] was won by Static in an upgrade roll with a 87. Carnilion won the [item]Netherwind Crown[/item] but when he found out Bolicious didn’t have a purple head piece he passed it onto him. Gwadraw won the [item]Nemesis Skullcap[/item] and the [item]Mature Black Dragon Sinew[/item] went to DE (but I don’t think it worked..not sure). Moonwinna won the [item]head of Onyxia[/item] with a 92 and I finally won the [item]Onyxia Hide Backpack[/item] with a 95. WOOOT! The [item]Ring of Binding[/item] went to a greed roll and Alahn won with a 53.
We tried to do BWL afterwards but with the server side lags (there were at least 250 people in there last night according to a /info on general chat) and not having some of our regular tanks we pulled the plug and bailed. A 20-man AQ group formed up but I went to watch TV instead.

We did our traditional Onyxia and BWL run last night. Onyxia was a piece of cake like usual and Razorgore has become fairly easy for us. Vael is still elluding our efforts to take him down while happily apologzing for killing us each and every time.
Onyxia loot:
[item]Onyxia hide backpack[/item] was won by Muridis with a 97, Moonwinna won the [item]Stormrage Cover[/item] with a 97, and Dworkinn won the [item]Sapphiron Drape[/item] with a 99. I finally won something - the [item]Netherwind Crown[/item] with a 44. WOOT! Thanks to those of you that passed cause you want to complete your tier 1 sets and everyone else. Babbaganoosh and Smokinjoe tied with a 95 for the [item]Head of Onyxia[/item] but Babba ultimately won with a 32. And Wendra walked off with the [item]Vis’kag the Bloodletter[/item] as an upgrade roll with a 76.
Razorgore dropped [item]The Black Book[/item] which went to our only demonology specced warlock, Ambianceforc; Gern won the [item]Judgement Bindings[/item] with a 84 and Kyjethu won the [item]Bloodfang Bracers[/item] with a 99.
We spent the rest of our time in BWL whiping and running back. Luckily Burthona called the raid a little early because all of us were getting tired, pissed and irritated over it. The first night we were in there we did great on our strategy, the thanks held aggro, etc. But now we suck. And of course every time a tank has issues doing their job they blame the whiping on needing more DPS. Well….if you can’t hold your aggro and Vael turns and fire breaths half of your DPSers WTF do you want us to do. Do your job and we will do ours. /rant

Since the February raid calendar was announced I noticed that Onyxia would reset today (Wed) so before our outing into BWL to take on Vael I suggested we run thru Onyxia for a “free” kill. Well it worked so we headed down there and got some decent loot out of the deal.
The [item]Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire[/item] dropped for Tasmpriest to win on an upgrade roll with a 66, Garand won the [item]Stormrage Cover[/item] with a 84 and Hurtu won the [item]Onyxia Hide Backpack[/item]. Daalny won the re-roll on The [item]head of Onyxia[/item] with a 41 and Gern wanted the [item]Sword of Zeal[/item] for an upgrade. Interestingly enough the Pally head piece has dropped so often that we had to DE it for a shard. Kugnar won the DE roll with a 99. The [item]Judgement Crown[/item] nets 2 nexus shards.
The server-side lag whomped us again and we only got in two shots on Vael before we gave up for the night. When it takes about 6 seconds for a 1.5 second spell to cast you know when it is time to give up.
With a new month, comes a new WOW Raiding schedule!
Check out all the Febuary dates, times and resets for Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul Gurrub, Onyxia, Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, and Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, right here! Onyxia resets on some odd days so keep that in mind - you may be able to get a “free” kill out of her for the week.

We decided to extend our raiding a bit and head into BWL after Ony to try to get a few more kills under our belt.
Onyxia went down easily although she was on a wierd timer. Her normal percentages and phase switching were definately turned around a bit. The [item]Deathbringer[/item] dropped for Static to win on an upgrade roll with a 86. Hurtu won the upgrade roll for the [item]Ring of Binding[/item] to put him at a total of 2, the [item]Stormrage Cover[/item] went to Daalny with a 98, Farkhat won the [item]Nemesis Skullcap[/item] on his first time in here and his wife, Alyna won the [item]Head of Onyxia[/item] on her first run as well. And finally, Tasm won the roll-off against Gwadraw for the [item]Onyxia Backpack[/item].
A quick portal to IF, a repair bill of 24s for me, and off we headed to BWL. We took down Razorgore with only one wipe. The [item]Judgement Bindings[/item] went to Galvar with his roll of 95, Carnilion won the [item]Netherwind Bindings[/item] with a 61 (he was the only one that rolled over a 50) and Phifer won the [item]Gloves of Rapid Evolution[/item] with a 94.
We spent the rest of the evening working on Vael but never did get him below 15%. With the server-side lags, pulling by lag, etc. we eventually called it a night to the relief of the entire raid. Very unfortunate since we had him at 7% on our first night’s attempt but what can ya do.
