AQ - C’thun and Ouro Hotfixes

Blizzard announced a few changes that have occured to bosses in the AQ instance the other day. If you are currently working through the AQ instance these changes could be significant for you.

Ouro has been hotfixed so his Quake effects deal significantly less damage.

We have also hotfixed the following changes to the C’thun encounter in Ahn’Qiraj:
- Lowered the hit points of both Giant Claw Tentacles and Giant Eye Tentacles.
- Decreased the damage caused by Ground Rupture, and made the effect resistable.
- Significantly decreased the melee damage done by Giant Eye Tentacles.

In the 1.10.1 patch, we also changed the way that C’thun identifies who is in his stomach. The faction changing debuff that was previously applied will no longer appear, but C’thun’s tentacles should not spawn in the stomach, nor should a player in the stomach be the target of C’thun’s Eye Beam.

The combination of these changes should give players more time to damage C’thun instead of dealing with tentacles, and see fewer “unavoidable, random” deaths occur due to Ground Rupture effects.

You can check out the whole thread here.

Thanks Wardawg for finding this for me to post! Our little AQ 20 group is moving fast and furious and its now time for this:

Ossirian the Unscarred is a boss in the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj.

Strategy

The Pull

Rogues are pretty much useless in this fight, therefore use a rogue to pull the boss to the middle of the room. The rogue should be mounted, bodypull the boss, then head back to the middle and look for a crystal that will spawn. Two crystals will be spawned at all times throughout the room. After about 2 seconds, the boss will buff himself; with the buff he can hit you for 13K damage, also when buffed, Ossirian moves pretty fast, faster than walking speed. When Ossirian is about 20 yards to the crystal, have a designated person click on the crystal to activate it. Note, the Main Tank should not aggro Ossirian until after the crystal puts the debuff on him, otherwise the MT will be one-shotted to death.

Activating the Crystals

Activating the crystal will put a 30 45 second debuff on Ossirian that makes him hit for only 1K or so, less than than the normal 13K, and puts a vulnerability on him for specific spell damages (he can have more than one on at a time). Make sure you are paying attention to the debuff slots so you can see what he is vulnerable to. You will then have about 30 seconds to pull Ossirian to the next crystal before his debuff runs out and one-shots the Main Tank. The crystal has a slight casting time, so don’t wait until the last second.

WoW Guild Holding Server Hostage

Now here is something to laugh about… well as long as you aren’t on that server!

This is easily the coolest bit of MMOG news I’ve heard in a while. A guild on WoW’s Detheroc server has the key necessary to open up content for the entire server, but is refusing to invite everyone to the party unless the server comes up with 5,000 gold. Next, they’ll kidnap the President’s daughter and will only give her back in exchange for full rest XP.

Kotaku is calling them terrorists, but I wouldn’t go that far. They’re just a group of people using the content they’ve been provided to affect the world. Sure, it may be negative, but the sweet is never as sweet without the sour, is it?

But the real question is, how do we resolve this? Who is going to actually give in to extortion in a videogame? In WoW, and pretty much every other MMOG, everyone’s a hero. Someone’s has to step up and defeat these bad guys. But who? Who’s going to be our hero of heroes? Who’s going to unleash the content to everyone, rendering this dastardly guild powerless and broken?

I bet he’ll look like Harrison Ford.

Preparing for Ahn’Qiraj

WoWInsider has this interesting article on their site and it got me thinking. I have NO Nature Resist. Since I still spend time in MC and am actively working my way through BWL I’m not going to get the +15 NR to cloak (not to mention its 2 or 3 frickin nexus shards. talk about expensive)

For Molten Core and Blackwing Lair, fire resistance is of supreme importance. As a non-tank, I tend to hover in the 100-150 range throughout MC (depending on the fight, of course!) and in BWL there are fights that are a lot easier once you clear 250. And though that may sound like quite a lot of fire resist, there are numerous options for a new level 60 preparing to hit Molten Core for the first time - there’s an item or two in almost every instance that can help boost your FR. But as the gates of Ahn’Qiraj start to open, many players are finding gearing up for this challenge to be more trying. The name of the game here is nature resist - and that’s far more rare.

The majority of the nature resist gear in the game is found on the green dragons - four outdoor raid bosses that spawn, randomly, in one of four locations in Azeroth. While the easiest of the four might be killed with only twenty (or even fewer!) experienced players, an organized raid group - and thus, most likely, a large, organized guild - is a requirement. Players in smaller guilds, or guilds that can’t organize a full raid without notice when these bosses spawn, are getting locked out of nature resist that’s about to be a requirement for raid progression.

Now I know some of you are out there thinking that players without access to the dragons can go farm instances for their own nature resist gear, which may not be as good as the epic items these dragons drop, will still be enough to help them through AQ. However, that’s precisely the problem - after the green dragons, the next best options for NR are drops in Maraudon - where you may find greens and blues designed for players in the 45-50 range, but have suddenly become essential for new end-game content.

While players are already complaining about this issue, Blizzard has not commented or announced any planned improvements to NR itemization throughout the world. Only time will tell how important NR really is for success in AQ, and whether players without access to these dragons can compete with the rest.

Blackhand War Efforts Are Done

All the big alliance guilds farmed constantly in RFD all weekend and got the supplies to finish the war effort. Horde and Alliance are DONE.

Supplies are being transferred to Silithus now, which takes the NPC’s 5 days. Next, the alliance and horde side ring their gong and the gates are open. So, seeyall in AQ next week.

Thanks Tasm for the heads up on this!

Illegal

It is being proposed that some of the AQ War Efforts raffles are illegal?!? With the gates of AQ requiring a tremendous amount of farming and resources, many guilds have found creative alternatives to collecting the funds needed to open the gates on their server. A raffling system has become a very popular method to give people incentive to participate in the opening of the gates but one person has been contacted by a GM that this sort of system is illegal, simply because the /random command is involved. Tigole has gotten word and spread it to the appropriate parties who will be looking into this further, hopefully something will be done and people’s hard work and dedication for a legitimate cause will not be in vain! Hot Topic: The Ahn’Qiraj War Effort

Beetle Mania is sweeping over WoW! The Gates of Ahn’Qiraj (pronounced An, followed by a cough) requires players from both the Horde and Alliance to work together, donating various resources to their collective War Machines. This may seem disasterous to the many who realize that World of Warcraft is as much about teamwork as it is blenders. The very idea that the Horde and Alliance, who have been slaying each other only last week, will now team up to go kill bugs is a bit daft, but many are trying regardless. Let’s find out how the Role Playing PVP server Maelstrom is managing it, shall we?

Salutations Throk!

Never I imagined I would write to you words of unity during my lifetime, but we cannot oppose another and hope to conquer the Slithid at the same time. Throk, it does my heart good to write to you something other than the difficulties we have against you in the Forums, or engaging in our timeless bickering of who ruined the last Kazzak attempt. I understand that we have engaged in conflict over what seems like trivial matters in the past, but now is the time to unite for one common cause: the big fence of Ahn’Qiraj & the Scepter of the Sands.

Monitor AQ War Efforts

AQA large number of sites are springing up monitoring individual servers’ progressions towards their total. There are also efforts to monitor every server thanks to a UI addon, so help your server become the first to open the gates! (Note, the list is probably slightly out of date because it only updates via people with the addon.)

Not for you? Blizzard has an official server-wide tracker in place to allow people to see how they compare to other servers. Check it out. Learn more about how you can contribute to the war effort on your server.

I continued my war efforts gathering by taking some new guildies through VC with Funktea and after that Babbaganoosh took Bellisimo and Wendra’s alt, Ryessa through Gnomergan. I haven’t turned the items in yet but I will tonite.
