Blizzard and Dell teamed up to give away some fancy gear, check it out…
Emaraene stared at the tower. Her daggers were clutched in her hands like extensions of her will. Executor Zygand wanted proof, and proof Emaraene would get from each and every member of the Scarlet Crusade she planned to kill that evening. A simple token, really–a mere ring–but a symbol of everything the Forsaken disdained. She moved in a low crouch toward her first victim. A twig snapped under her feet, and she suddenly found herself face to face with a friar….
Does it give you a strong sense of pride to undertake dangerous missions on behalf of your faction? Are you adept at finding your way around Azeroth in search of new ways to assist each region’s needy inhabitants? If so, then the World of Warcraft Quest for the Ultimate Gaming PC Contest sponsored by Dell is a great way to put your questing abilities and game knowledge to the test.
Thanks

A Spanish Website is up on the European side but that’s not all, the first Spanish realm is also coming soon! The beginning of September to be exact
The first Spanish realms will be opened beginning of September! Soon, and in fact some time prior to the full launch of World of Warcraft in Spanish, we will be opening a set of realms for our Spanish speaking players. These first realms will be migration realms and for a limited period of time we will be offering only Spanish players free migration to these realms from current realms. Players may also migrate at a later date through the Paid Character Transfer service, although this will be subject to the normal restrictions.
The migration realms will be Player vs. Player (PvP) and Normal (PvE) realms. Role-Players that do not wish to transfer to non-RP realms will be able to migrate to Spanish RP and RP-PvP realms at a later time.
Read more here on this site where you also will find the rules about what realms are eligible for migration.

New to World of Warcraft and need to know some of the ins and outs? Check out this handy guide kindly written by the gang over at TenTonHammer.com.
Check out the Newb Guide
[Excerpt] Welcome to the world of MMORPGs (Multi Player Online Role Playing Games)! For those of you not in the know, MMORPGs are like console RPG games (games similar to the Final Fantasy series) but allow thousands to millions of players in the same world at the same time. World of Warcraft (or WoW) is one of these MMORPGs and contains a wealth of features and gameplay to keep you entertained while you adventure along with other people.
MMORPGs feature a persistent world that never stops. Enemies constantly respawn and NPCs (non-playable characters, anyone that isn’t played by another person) treat you as the first adventurer they’ve seen to aid in their problems. Other people playing their characters can interact with you; trading loot and money they’ve acquired or help you go out on epic quests to defeat menacing dragons. You can play the game by yourself of course, but you get the most out of socially interacting with others as you play.
MMORPGs offer a limitless amount of time for entertainment as well. You can play the game for as long as your account is open and there is never an end to things you can do. You can do everything from slay evil beasts, collect rare gear, or many of the other things available. Even when the leveling is done there is still gearing yourself up and lots of various PvP roles.

The following announcement was posted the the WoW official forums:
We are moving forward on our hardware retrofits in preparation for the upcoming release of the Burning Crusade expansion and would like to inform everyone of our current schedule. Due to the requirements for implementing this new hardware, some realms may find they will be down for an extended period of time. During this time paid character transfers will be disabled.
Due to the nature of these hardware upgrades, we’re unable to preserve the friends and ignore list for characters on these realms. We recommend that players take the necessary steps to back up this information, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve realm performance and stability through our continued hardware upgrade plans.

“Newsweek has published a three page article asking whether World of Warcraft is more than just a game. Though some spend their time in WoW grinding, others take a break from the monotony of gaming to interact with others from the community in a meaningful way. From the article: ‘Generally, though, players of the game enjoy a form of community rarely seen in the real world; higher-level players go out of their way to tutor newbies and accompany them on quests. Deep friendships are forged. Relationships begin that flower into marriage, with Tauren brides and Undead grooms tying the knot in some virtual tavern in Thunder Bluff.’ I guess the question is, does a game become more when people do more than play to win, or is this just an added feature?”

Raph Koster has been of the opinion, for quite some time now, that all MMOGs are virtual worlds; it just so happens you can play a game inside many of them. What’s your view on this? Are Massive games just another kind of game title, or are they something special?

We’d like to make the community aware of a recent account-theft scam that is being circulated through email, game forums, in-game chat, and other mediums. This scam involves fake URLs, or hyperlinks, that once clicked will install harmful “keylogging” software intended to steal your World of Warcraft account name and password. After the creators of these keyloggers steal this information, they log into your account, immediately change your password to lock you out, and then sell all of your items and transfer all of your gold. The scam comes in many forms, including URLs advertised as links to class guides, gameplay videos, and in many cases user-interface (UI) modifications. As a general rule, be extremely wary of URLs ending in “.jpg .html” and “.scr,”
as in many cases the harmful software is being hidden at locations that end with these extensions.
