PTRs are Live

Hortus from Blizzard chimes in with this news about the PTRs…
Go… Have fun… Report some bugs.

Edit: I forgot to mention. We are aware that Alliance Hunter pre-mades are starting in the Alterac Mountains dome. I take full blame for this, but we were unable to get it fixed before the patch went out.

Thanks

Tseric made this announcement on the WoW official forums:

The following realms will be receiving continued retro-fitting maintenance in preparation for the upcoming release of the Burning Crusade expansion. This maintenance will begin Tuesday, September 19th at 12:01 AM PDT and continue until Wednesday, September 20th at 12:00 PM PDT. During this time paid character transfers will be disabled.

Due to the nature of these hardware upgrades, we’re unable to preserve the friends and ignore list for characters on these realms. We recommend that players take the necessary steps to back up this information, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you for bearing with us as we work to improve the service we provide, now and in the future.

Nethaera from Blizzard made this message that he wanted to get out…

Word is there are baby murlocs from Blizzcon that have yet to be adopted. The Blizzcon murloc and beta key gift cards will be expiring on October, 28th at 12:01 AM PDT. (Cards are good 1 year only from the date of issue at Blizzcon 2005.) Players will also want to make sure they have signed up for their beta key if they have not already done so.

To claim your pet, scratch off the code on your card and go to http://www.blizzcon.com/pet and follow the online instructions.

To sign up for your beta key, use the second code in the scratch off area and go to http://www.blizzcon.com/beta and follow the online instructions.

We look forward to seeing more baby murlocs get homes and seeing you all in the beta!
Thanks

Blizzard has released a map of the Outland!

Beyond the Dark Portal lies Outland, the broken remains of the Orcs’ homeworld, Draenor. Amid the ruins of this world, the survivors of the cataclysm are trying to rebuild, and in other parts of Outland, life continues to thrive. Those brave enough to make the journey through the Dark Portal will find new allies and enemies, as well as limitless adventure beyond an untamed horizon.

We’ve just released an interactive map showing all of Outland’s dungeons, Alliance and Horde settlements, faction bases and neutral cities as well as new screenshots of each region. Check out the interactive Outland map now!

Xfire Contest Extended

Xfire WoW Movie Contest Reminder

Michael over at Xfire sent over another reminder today that the Xfire WoW Summer Movie content has been extended until September 29th. All budding movie makers take note:

For movie makers that are already finishing up, there is now more time to get started on a second submission. With the short film (2 min) category this year and the chance to win more than one prize, there is nothing to lose. With over $23,000 in prizes from AMD, XFX, Sennheiser and Ideazon up for grabs (including a $5,000 enthusiast computer) the time is right to get going.

Please visit the official World of Warcraft Movie Contest Page to get all of the details about the event.

TCG Preview

Upperdeck has a couple new card previews at their site for anyone interested….

Fianna Spellbinder - I’m sure those of you who play the World of Warcraft online game are looking forward to the coming release of The Burning Crusade expansion pack. It’s almost here, and it will give you two new races to play. One of those races, the blood elves, has a very interesting background. This race is also seeing its debut in the first set for the World of Warcraft trading card game. In fact, today is a preview of one such card. Check it out!

Rain of Fire - Today’s preview card operates in a similar fashion. Check out Rain of Fire, possibly the most powerful global damage effect we’ve seen so far! Check it out!

Thanks
