In an article on eastday.com gold farmers defend their actions.
“We call it ‘Gold Farming’,” said Wang Yiwei, “Gold is the virtual currency in WoW with which players can buy stuff just like in the real world. Players can only obtain Gold by accomplishing time-consuming quests, slaying monsters, or starting a virtual business through the game’s trade and auction system.”Wang runs two companies, one in Shanghai and another in his hometown in northeast China, with over 40 employees or “Gold Farmers” as they call themselves. Their job is to play WoW all day long to gather as much Gold as possible, and then sell the virtual money to players in the real world for real money.
Wang said, “A big proportion of WoW players are white-collar workers and students. These people do not have enough time to go through all the time-consuming procedures to obtain the virtual money they need, so we do it for them. We help those people save time, for a small fee.”

Update: The Key-Logger which steals account names and passwords continues to circulate. We remind players to be especially vigilant when being directed to external websites and to update the security on their computers.
This account-theft scam is being circulated via email, game forums, in-game chat, and other mediums. We’d like to make the community aware of this scam that involves fake URLs or hyperlinks which, once clicked, will install harmful “key-logging” software, which will then attempt to steal your World of Warcraft account name and password.
The scam comes in many forms, including URLs advertised as links to class guides, gameplay videos, and, in many cases, user-interface (UI) modifications. For these reasons, it is very important that players take caution when being directed to external websites and update the security on their computers accordingly.
A complete guide to avoid being scammed is now proposed in the Game Masters forum. Be sure to check this page.
A user asked about Crowd Control spells regarding The Burning Crusade and Tseric from Blizzard was nice enough to state this…
The current plan is to reduce effectiveness of crowd control spells in Arena combat. I’m not sure at the moment if this will also carry over to battlegrounds, but it is a possibility.
What were looking into is having reduced duration of crowd control spells to prevent extended removal from combat. Outside of a PvP area such as arenas, spells will operate as normal, according to tooltip. Inside a PvP instance, a spell which may have had a 15 second duration will be reduced to a 10 or 5 second duration. The details of duration are not specific, I am merely using these numbers to illustrate the point and intent.
So, while we don’t plan on disabling CC in Arenas, we do have intent to decrease its potential for extended incapacitation.
Thanks
