Death Stories 2006 includes WoW

The Death Stories Project is research project examining how players experience death in online gameworlds. The project takes a closer look at death as it is implemented in the game system of the world; and death as an event related to one’s characters’ life in the world (death(s) that has become part of the stories that describe your experience of living in the world)).

They are looking for stories from Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Star Wars Galaxies, EverQuest, World of Warcraft, Anarchy Online, Eve, Lineage II, City of Heroes, Asheron’s Call - but if you have a story from another MMOG you want to contribute, there will be a possibility for that as well.

Share your tales of demise!

Nature Resistance Coming

I’ve talked before about how important nature resist is in parts of Ahn’Qiraj and how difficult it is to find in Azeroth.  Well, today the Cenarion Circle reputation page was updated with a selection of craftable cloth and plate nature resist gear.  CM Eyonix has informed us that these will go live in patch 1.11, along with leather patterns (I can only presume no reputation is required, since they are not on the Cenarion Circle page) for sale in Southwind Village.  Having options for nature resist that don’t require me to farm Maraudon is big plus.

Patch 1.10.1 is Out

No official word on what this patch entails since they are still pointing everyone to the 1.10 notes but it’s out! At 3pm EST we still couldn’t log in to check out the fun but it is available to download thru their in-game downloader.

Blizzard Entertainment has updated its World of Warcraft and general game FAQs to make clear its current and future support for cross platform versions of its game products. This is a bit of good news for those feeling uncertain about the future of Mac gaming after Apple’s recent release of Boot Camp, software which makes Windows XP a viable dual boot option on Intel Macs.

Apple’s OS X Boot Camp software lets me boot Windows XP on my Intel-based Mac. Can I run Blizzard games under Windows using Boot Camp on these systems?

Yes, you can if you wish to do so. However, please note that as OS X Boot Camp is in beta form, we can’t offer technical support for Blizzard games run under Windows using Boot Camp at this time.

What is Blizzard’s plan for native Mac OS support, now that Boot Camp is available?

We have a recognized track record of native Mac OS support, and we have no plans to break with that tradition. We understand that our Mac player base prefers native software whenever possible, and our cross-platform development practice addresses that.

Thanks Wardawg for finding this for me to post! Our little AQ 20 group is moving fast and furious and its now time for this:

Ossirian the Unscarred is a boss in the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj.

Strategy

The Pull

Rogues are pretty much useless in this fight, therefore use a rogue to pull the boss to the middle of the room. The rogue should be mounted, bodypull the boss, then head back to the middle and look for a crystal that will spawn. Two crystals will be spawned at all times throughout the room. After about 2 seconds, the boss will buff himself; with the buff he can hit you for 13K damage, also when buffed, Ossirian moves pretty fast, faster than walking speed. When Ossirian is about 20 yards to the crystal, have a designated person click on the crystal to activate it. Note, the Main Tank should not aggro Ossirian until after the crystal puts the debuff on him, otherwise the MT will be one-shotted to death.

Activating the Crystals

Activating the crystal will put a 30 45 second debuff on Ossirian that makes him hit for only 1K or so, less than than the normal 13K, and puts a vulnerability on him for specific spell damages (he can have more than one on at a time). Make sure you are paying attention to the debuff slots so you can see what he is vulnerable to. You will then have about 30 seconds to pull Ossirian to the next crystal before his debuff runs out and one-shots the Main Tank. The crystal has a slight casting time, so don’t wait until the last second.

Limited-Edition Bronze Figures

Blizzard wanted to get the word out on some neat little figures.

Check out the new World of Warcraft Limited Edition Bronze Figures, now available from Fantasy Flight Games. These figures, made from cast bronze with a black ink wash and a green felted base, are ideal game pieces for World of Warcraft: The Board Game, and the black wash brings out a high level of detail. You don’t need the board game to enjoy these figures, however. They can also be used as nice decorations for your monitor or desk, or simply as a stylish accessory.

Visit the official Fantasy Flight website to order today.

Unbridled Wrath - A OK

Eyonix from Blizzard wanted to get this statement out regarding the Warrior class…

Our Quality Assurance department has extensively tested and verified that the Warrior talent, Unbridled Wrath is in-fact functioning properly, generating rage as per its design. It is not however, displaying in the combat log. The combat display issue associated with this talent will be fixed in an upcoming patch. For now, please rest assured that this ability is working exactly as it’s intended to work.
