Eurogamer.net has this interesting article on their site.
Want to beta-test World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade? That’s handy, because Blizzard’s running a contest in WOW to choose people to do just that. Smashing luck you stopped by really isn’t it!
Actually there are three contests, and the point of all this is to help stress-test new server hardware to Blizzard can make sure it’s up to snuff. The first of the three is all about racing to level 50. The 1000 quickest in each region - or simply the 1000 who do it if there aren’t more - will qualify for a BC beta spot. The second contest takes place on the Honour Contest Realm and is called Battle for Warsong Gulch. Capped at level 19, 500 players from each region split between Horde and Alliance will fight it out and whoever has the highest honour at the end is in the beta.
Finally, for those of you who like running alts, is a real timesink: get as many level 25 characters as possible. All you have to do is run characters up to level 25 over and over again. Once you’ve filled your ten slots, you’re advised to just delete one or other of the ones you’re done with and keep going as it’ll all be counted up. And, if you can still bear the very sight of WOW after all that (and four times the population of earth apparently can), then you’ll get to go off on a Burning Crusade at some point.
The only stipulation is that you have to do all this between March 7th and March 27th - apparently it’s open to anybody with an active account in Europe, Korea or North America.

If you haven’t downloaded it already and tested out the much talked about 1.10 patch you can download it from Filenuts.com at http://www.filenuts.com/1010.html.
New High-Level Armor Sets!
Adventurers of Azeroth can now quest to upgrade their previous Rare-quality Dungeon set to a new, higher-quality set, including epic gear! These tasks include all-new boss encounters, so prepare your finest group of dungeon-delvers and prepare for a challenge!
Weather!
Weather has been introduced in the following areas around Azeroth:
o Elwynn Forest
o Tirisfal Glades
o Dun Morogh
o Darkshore
o Alterac Mountains
o Stranglethorn Vale
o Feralas
o Un’Goro Crater
o Tanaris
o Winterspring
o Ahn’Qiraj
We will be adding more weather to the world as time progresses; this is simply the beginning!
High-Level Instance Changes
Along with the new Armor Sets, the high-level 5-10 man dungeons have received some changes regarding loot. Many items have been improved in quality and use. In addition, several epic items, such as Headmaster’s Charge and the Runeblade of Baron Rivendare, have had their drop rates significantly increased. In order to preserve the challenge of these dungeons, they have had their instance caps lowered. Stratholme, Scholomance, and Blackrock Depths now allow a maximum of five players inside, and Blackrock Spire allows a maximum of ten.
Quest Experience to Gold Conversion at Level 60
Previously, quest experience was wasted if one completed a quest at level 60. In this patch, any quests done at maximum level will have their experience reward converted to a healthy amount of gold, thus adding additional incentive to completing those quests in your log once you hit 60.

I’m taking a break from playing the game for a multitude of reasons so the updates & news will be sporadic for a week or two. Since there really isn’t a whole lot of new stuff going on in the game right now it seems like an ideal time to do so.
